Invisalign® in San Antonio, TX from Gies Family Dental

At Gies Family Dental, we believe our patients should have options when it comes to their smiles. For patients looking to straighten their teeth, Dr. Lavoygar Gies offers Invisalign® as a clear alternative to metal braces.

Understanding Invisalign®

In order to move teeth, traditional braces use a series of brackets and wires which are gradually tightened. In contrast, Invisalign® uses a series of clear aligning trays, which are swapped out throughout the course of treatment. These trays are custom made to a patient’s dentition and, as the trays are swapped, they gradually move the teeth into the right position.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign®?

There are a number of advantages associated with Invisalign®, many of which stem from the removable nature of the aligning trays. For example, as the trays can be taken out at home, patients are able to control the majority of their treatment. With this clear braces options, patients only need to visit our San Antonio Invisalign® dentist once every three weeks for check-ups and to receive the next sets of trays. While this treatment method requires greater patient responsibility, most find the ease of changing and cleaning their Invisalign® trays to be simpler than traditional braces.

Invisalign® also provides patients with greater treatment comfort. Invisalign® trays are made using digital impressions to fit precisely over patients’ teeth. While treatment with traditional orthodontics is often accompanied by discomfort whenever braces are tightened, Invisalign® patients rarely feel any such displeasure during treatment, with the exception of some tightness as new trays are being worn for the first time.

One of the most popular benefits of Invisalign® is the discreet nature of the treatment. As Invisalign® uses clear aligning trays in order to straighten teeth, patients are able to go about their routines without the distraction of metal braces. This unique feature makes Invisalign® the treatment of choice among older teens, young adults, and middle aged patients alike.

Clear Braces at Gies Family Dentistry

At our San Antonio dental practice, receiving Invisalign® begins with an in-depth look at the cause of teeth misalignment. After determining a patient’s eligibility for treatment, digital impressions are taken and your trays are made. Once the trays have been created, patients return to our practice to receive their treatment plan and first set of aligners.

Throughout the course of care, patients return to our office every three weeks to receive their next tray and to ensure treatment is going according to plan. Once the process is complete, we provide patients with a retainer to wear at night, reinforcing the new position of their smile.
